Beach resort Gänsehäufel
Description
Experience the feeling of being by the sea at the Alte Donau in Vienna, made possible by the magical Gänsehäufel. The area was created from gravel deposits in the Alte Donau and was first opened to the public in 1913. Since then, it has been a popular summer spot for Viennese families to relax and cool off by the water. Gänsehäufel has become an institution in Vienna, and since Rainhard Fendrich, it is now the most famous pool in Austria. And it's easy to see why!
Gänsehäufel offers something for everyone: a 2 km natural beach along the Alte Donau, numerous pools for those who prefer a classic swimming experience, and plenty of space to enjoy. Gänsehäufel can accommodate up to 30,000 visitors on peak days. For a more peaceful experience, there is a special mother and child area where children can play in the sand and splash around in the water.
If the kids are in the mood for more excitement, they can enjoy the large wave pool, waterslides, and water castle. It's all guaranteed to be fun and refreshingly wet! With so many playgrounds, puppet shows, bouncy castles, beach volleyball, basketball, tennis courts, and more, Gänsehäufel has something to offer kids of all ages. And in the summer, there's even a bus shuttle from the U1 to the Gänsehäufel beach. Come and experience the seaside vibe in the heart of Vienna at Gänsehäufel.
