The Ottakring Forest School is an amazing eco-education center in the Ottakring Forest – it playfully introduces children to the forest ecosystem. Since 1998, as Austria's first forestry educational information center, it offers an interactive educational program, attended by around 4,000 students each year. 🌳
For classes in grades 3 through 6 there are day trips with guided hikes, games and hands-on activities. Children can discover mysterious places, balance on a rope in the forest, explore tree trunks and antlers, and touch and observe prepared wildlife and birds in the classroom. 🔎
The day often ends with a communal campfire – tea and elderflower juice are offered; sausages should be brought along. Field trips can be organized on school days and take place in any weather. There is also an annual Family Experience Day with a free program for families. 🔥🍵
