The Kaiserliche Wagenburg in the stables of Schloss Schönbrunn offers an impressive collection of historic carriages and vehicles. Visitors discover more than 60 historic state carriages, sleighs and limousines – including the baroque Kaiserliche Kutsche as a highlight.
In addition to magnificent carriages, paintings and court clothes depict the lives of Maria Theresia, Franz Joseph and even Napoleon. A permanent exhibition on Kaiserin Elisabeth (Sisi) presents original dresses, a saddle and the Sisi Path.
For schools, kindergartens and private children’s groups, age-appropriate tours are offered, focusing on children’s carriages, ceremonial coaches or topics such as 'What is a carriage' and journeys into the past. Ideal for children aged 2–6, 6–10, 10–12 and 12+ years.
Thematic special exhibitions such as 'Imperial Speed – High-Speed Vehicles of the Habsburgs 1814–2014' or the film project 'Sisi's Mystery Dress' complement the collection. There are public and private tours, audio guides and a virtual exhibition.
