Power Plant Simmering

The Simmering power plant ranks among the most modern and environmentally friendly facilities in Europe ⚡️🌿☀️. The facility combines gas and steam turbines, a biomass power plant, and a large photovoltaic installation.

With efficient combined heat and power (CHP), the modern gas- and steam-turbine combined-cycle plant achieves an efficiency of more than 81 percent – that means: particularly energy-efficient electricity and heat production. Since 2009 the power plant has supplied electricity to around 730,000 households and over 7,000 business customers; in addition, it provides district heating for nearly 270,000 households.

Tours and guided tours are offered 🔍🏭. They are particularly exciting for families: suitable for children aged 10 to 12 and for teenagers aged 12 and up. Before participating, access conditions must be observed.
