Description

Step into the enchanting world of Wiener Türkenschanzpark, where action, relaxation, and endless beauty await the whole family. This sprawling 150,000 square meter park, situated in the 18th district of Vienna between the Peter-Jordan-Straße, Gregor-Mendel-Straße, Hasenauerstraße, and Max-Emanuel-Straße, has been open in part since 1888. Designed in the style of an English landscape garden by city garden director Gustav Sennholz, the park is home to an array of rare plants from around the world, carefully cultivated in collaboration with the nearby University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences. As you wander the paths, you'll be captivated by the park's many water features, including ponds, a waterfall, and fountains, and you can marvel at the many monuments and sculptures, like those dedicated to the great poet Adalbert Stifter or the renowned composer Emmerich Kálmán. The iconic tower at the heart of the park marks the way to two playgrounds that promise endless fun for both children and parents. The western playground, designed with smaller children in mind, features a sandbox and slides, while the larger eastern playground covers 2,500 square meters and boasts beach volleyball, football, basketball, and skateboarding areas. Take a break from the action on one of the park's many shady lawns, perfect for picnicking or lounging. And if you're looking for a little more excitement, head over to the designated dog zones or the duck feeding area. In the Wiener Türkenschanzpark, adventure and relaxation go hand in hand, making it the perfect destination for a day out with the family.
