Waldschule Lobau is a legendary eco-education facility in the National Park House Wien-Lobau 🌳. It teaches children about the floodplain forest ecosystem and responsible interactions with nature in a playful way. For school classes (grades 1 through 8) and kindergartens, there are specially designed day trips.
The trips last about three hours (usually from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and can take place on school days in any weather. Children experience active discovery, playful learning, and hands-on experiences. Parts of the day take place in classrooms and outdoors. The programs are led by pedagogically trained forest school teachers; in addition, the offerings of the National Park House can be used, for example a large adventure playground 🛝.
The program is aimed primarily at preschool children and school classes from grades 1 through 8 (age groups: 2–6, 6–10, 10–12, 12+ years). Especially practical: many excursions are free as part of the city’s environmental education project.
