Description

Nature Paradise with Mystical Charm

The Nature Park "DIE WÜSTE Mannersdorf" is a gem of recreational areas for walkers, hikers, and mountain bikers. The name originates from an inaccurate translation of the Greek word "eremos" (hermitage, desert, wilderness), which has become popular in colloquial usage.

The area houses a former monastery of the Discalced Carmelites and the ruins of the former Scharfeneck Castle. The 106-hectare nature park is now an ideal recreational area for hiking, cycling, strolling, running, and much more. At the summit of the 347-meter-high Schlossberg, the ruins of the former Scharfeneck Castle stand tall. As it served as a border fortress from Hungary, the view extends from Leopoldsberg near Vienna to the far reaches of the eastern Alpine foothills.

Since 2015, there has been a circular path through the nature park, designed as a themed trail under the patronage of Marc Aurel.
