The listed Kuffner observatory from the 19th century, located on the western outskirts of Vienna, impressively demonstrates how astronomy was researched more than 125 years ago. Due to the good condition of the historical instruments, it is still possible today to observe the night sky like back then. The faithfully restored astronomical instruments and the flair of the historic building offer visitors a special experience.
What happens in an observatory? In contrast to the Planetarium Vienna, when the weather is nice we use telescopes to look directly at the stars and planets in the real sky. Here we observe the moon with its craters, the planets of our solar system and the world of stars and galaxies. Private tours, children's birthday parties, company events and weddings in a very special setting round off what the historical observatory has to offer.
